Role OverviewThe Junior Systems Engineer supports the administration, maintenance, and monitoring of enterprise infrastructure, cloud platforms, servers, storage systems, and core IT services. Working alongside senior engineers, this role participates in infrastructure operations, cloud administration, system patching, and modernization initiatives. This position is a 6-month contract-to-hire opportunity.
Key Responsibilities Systems Administration & Infrastructure Operations- Support the day-to-day administration, maintenance, and health monitoring of enterprise servers and infrastructure.
- Perform routine operating system patching, software upgrades, and hardware maintenance tasks.
- Troubleshoot server, infrastructure, and operating system issues to ensure operational stability.
- Assist with enterprise storage administration, performance optimization, and capacity planning.
- Support Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure, services, and operational deployments.
- Apply basic networking knowledge to support connectivity, core IT services, and infrastructure projects.
- Document operational procedures, system configurations, and technical runbooks.
- Assist with disaster recovery testing, data backup management, and restore validation activities.
- 2 to 5 years of systems administration or IT infrastructure experience.
- Experience supporting Windows Server environments and Active Directory administration.
- Hands‑on experience with virtualization technologies and enterprise storage systems.
- Basic knowledge of networking concepts, protocols, and core infrastructure services.
- Strong analytical and technical troubleshooting skills.
- Hands‑on experience with VMware virtualization platforms.
- Experience with Microsoft Azure cloud management and deployment.
- Experience with Power Shell scripting for task automation.
- Familiarity with backup, recovery, and infrastructure monitoring tools.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with senior engineers and internal teams.
- Eagerness to learn and adapt to modern cloud and infrastructure technologies.
- Structured approach to problem‑solving, documentation, and operational efficiency.
- Ability to manage day-to-day task execution independently while knowing when to elevate complex issues.
