Position Summary

Enterprise Strategy & Architecture (ES&A) is a centralized architecture organization within the Information Technology department. ES&A supports the company’s safety, reliability, affordability, and regulatory objectives by providing clear architectural direction, disciplined governance, and practical guidance that accelerates delivery while reducing risk and complexity.

Reporting to the Senior Manager Technology Architecture, this role serves as the Enterprise Architect for Operational Technology. The role owns architecture direction for facilities systems, sensors, field telemetry, control systems, and edge environments across substations, field sites, and other operational locations.

The successful candidate is a systems‑level thinker and master planner who translates enterprise strategy into living target architectures, prioritized roadmaps, and reusable patterns, working early and continuously with delivery and operations teams to ensure solutions are aligned, secure, and executable. Architects in this role are expected to focus on enabling outcomes and delivery.

PG&E is providing the full salary/pay range for this position. The actual amount paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, internal equity, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, and geographic location.
The range to reasonably expect will be around the minimum and the midpoint $155,000 - $210,000
. The
final decision will be made on a case‑by‑case basis related to the factors above. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.

Bay Area Min: $ 155,000

Bay Area Max: $ 265,000

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and 1-2 days per week at our Oakland Headquarters based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory.

Key Responsibilities Architecture Vision & Direction
  • Define and evolve target architecture for Operational Technologies and shared services, providing a clear north star that guides investment, design, and modernization decisions
  • Translate enterprise and IT strategy into capability‑based roadmaps, identifying maturity gaps, dependencies, and sequencing required to move from current to target state
  • Own architecture outcomes across a portfolio of Operational Technologies, ensuring alignment from strategy through implementation and operations
Operational Technologies Scope
  • Define and govern the enterprise OT, facilities, sensor, and field telemetry architecture strategy across operational environments, including data centers, field sites, substations, control centers, critical facilities, and edge locations.
  • Architect sensor-to-platform and real-time telemetry patterns, including instrumentation standards, data collection, buffering, streaming, time‑series data, alarm/event architecture, operational monitoring, and facilities/industrial observability.
  • Define IT/OT integration architecture across operational systems, facilities platforms, field devices, control systems, and enterprise technology environments, ensuring interoperability, supportability, and clear segmentation boundaries.
  • Architect OT cybersecurity, resiliency, and critical infrastructure protection patterns, including IT/OT segmentation, secure connectivity, operational continuity, disaster recovery, safety, regulatory, and critical infrastructure compliance requirements.
  • Lead architecture for edge and field computing environments, including compute at substations, plants, remote sites, control centers, and critical facilities, while ensuring solutions are resilient, observable, operationally supportable, and aligned to business continuity needs.
