Financial Systems Administrator - Boston, New York, Washington, D.C.

Reporting to the Director of Financial Systems, the Financial Systems Administrator is responsible for the administration, maintenance, support, and optimization of the firm's financial and practice management systems. This role serves as the primary liaison between Finance, IT, and business users to ensure financial systems operate efficiently, securely, and in compliance with firm policies and legal industry requirements. The Financial Systems Administrator manages system configurations, reporting, integrations, user support, data integrity, and ongoing enhancements to support the firm's financial operations.

Responsibilities:

• Administer and maintain the firm's financial, billing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, trust accounting, and practice management systems.
• Configure system settings, workflows, user roles, security permissions, and access controls.
• Monitor system performance and troubleshoot application issues.
• Perform software upgrades, patches, testing, and implementations.
• Maintain system documentation, procedures, and configuration records.
• Troubleshoot incidents and manage 3rd party support escalation and resolution.
• Review system-related processes in each functional area and work with Finance managers to streamline and improve current processes.
• Manage technical aspects of database cleanup projects.
• Develop and generate reports, workflows, data imports/exports, and interfaces between systems.
• Provide strong technical leadership in managing hands-on development in the suite of Elite 3E, Elite Templates, Emburse, Big Hand, PowerBI and other current/future technologies within the landscape.
• Recommend solutions to business problems and assist in meeting business requirements.
• Continuous improvement approach to optimize system performance and reliability.
• Serve as liaison between Finance, IT and external service providers.
• Proactively provide recommendations and solutions to modernize the financial systems technology stack and to drive technology adoption within Finance.
• Perform data validation, reconciliations, and quality assurance processes across integrated systems.
• Ensure the integrity and security of financial and client-related information.
• Support year-end processing and financial audits.
• Support technical role representing the Finance Department in projects involving financial applications including financial application upgrades, automating processes, and selection/implementation of new products, including integration with current systems.
• Support delivery on the financial systems strategy of implementing automated solutions resulting in increased productivity, improved efficiencies, and cost-savings.
• Provide input and recommendations for performance optimization of financial systems, data integrity, and resolution of problems or issues related to financial applications.
• Assume additional responsibilities as requested.
• This role requires 60% in office presence; remote work is permissible 40% of the time.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in information systems, accounting, finance, or related field.
• 7+ years of experience supporting financial systems, preferably within a law firm or professional services environment.

Technical & Specialist Knowledge

• Expert knowledge of the following core systems:
• Elite 3E/Cloud
• Emburse (formerly, Chrome River)
• Intapp Time (working knowledge of other Intapp products is a plus)
• Experience with legal ERP or other legal financial systems (e.g., Aderant, SAP, etc.) is acceptable
• Strong knowledge of:
• SQL and database management
• Microsoft Excel (advanced)
• Power BI or other reporting/business intelligence tools
• Financial reporting and analytics
• System integrations and data management (Intapp Integration Builder and/or SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)).
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications
• In depth knowledge of client/server & database application environments.
• Hands‑on experience with financial systems/ERP cloud migration.
• Must have a solid understanding of the current and evolving legal industry technologies and trends.
