Business Analyst
The Teachers’ Retirement System of Oklahoma (TRS) is undertaking a comprehensive, multi-year modernization initiative to replace aging legacy systems, including the full retirement of the ALICE platform, and transition to a unified, cloud-native environment. The initiative centers on building MyPAS 3.0, a modern Azure-hosted pension administration system that integrates with the MyTRS member portal and MyTRS employer portal. TRS is seeking a Business Analyst to support business process analysis, requirements gathering, user story development, testing, UAT coordination, documentation, and stakeholder communication throughout the modernization initiative.
Responsibilities:
- Engage with business units to understand operational workflows, pain points, and opportunities for improvement.
- Work with Development and IT resources to understand and translate technical requirements.
- Document current-state processes using process maps, swimlane diagrams, and workflow charts.
- Facilitate discussions to define future-state processes aligned with organizational objectives.
Requirements Gathering and User Story Development
- Translate business needs into detailed functional requirements.
- Develop acceptance criteria and Azure Dev Ops work items/user stories.
- Ensure requirements are complete, consistent, testable, and aligned with business priorities.
- Collaborate with Product Owners, developers, and stakeholders to refine and validate requirements.
Testing and Quality Assurance
- Develop test plans, test scripts, and step-by-step testing instructions.
- Perform functional testing of user stories in Development and Test environments.
- Validate solution accuracy and readiness.
- Document defects and track resolution progress.
- Verify fixes and ensure requirements are properly addressed.
- Coordinate, support, or lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT) sessions with business stakeholders.
Stakeholder Collaboration and Communication
- Serve as a liaison between business units and technical teams.
- Ensure shared understanding and alignment between business and technical stakeholders.
- Communicate project updates, risks, and issues clearly and proactively.
- Support change management activities.
- Contribute to training materials, documentation, and user guidance.
Required Skills:
- Experience in business analysis, process documentation, or related roles.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to create clear process diagrams and workflow documentation.
- Experience writing user stories, acceptance criteria, and test cases.
- Familiarity with Azure Dev Ops or similar work item management tools.
- Hands-on experience with functional testing and UAT coordination.
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
- Experience working with business and technical stakeholders.
- Ability to translate business requirements into actionable technical requirements.
- Experience supporting application modernization or transformation initiatives is beneficial based on the stated modernization scope.

Location &
Schedule:
- Remote position with Oklahoma City, OK as the designated location.
- In-person attendance may be required for certain onsite meetings.
- TRS will not reimburse contractor travel expenses.
- Typical work hours are 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, with flexibility possible upon approval from the TRS Project Manager.
