Location: Iowa
Optomi, in partnership with a leading global consulting firm supporting a major state government health and human services modernization initiative, is looking for a Middleware System Administrator/Dev Ops Engineer to own production and staging environment support for enterprise middleware platforms built on JBoss EAP and integrated with Azure Dev Ops for CI/CD and release automation.
Core Responsibilities:- Provision, configure, monitor, and administer JBoss EAP environments across dev, QA, staging, and production
- Configure and support JBoss clustering and failover for high availability in standalone and domain modes
- Manage deployment workflows in Azure Dev Ops — branching strategies, pull requests, release tagging, approvals, and access control
- Configure and support Azure Pipelines including automated builds, deployments, artifact management, and environment promotions
- Package and deploy enterprise applications (WAR/EAR) to JBoss EAP using GUI and CLI tools
- Perform post-deployment validation — smoke testing, log analysis, health checks, and performance verification
- Troubleshoot authentication, web server, and JBoss runtime/application issues
- Plan and execute JBoss EAP upgrades, patching, and configuration management
- Perform performance tuning of JVM heap/GC settings, thread pools, and datasource connection pools
- Develop and maintain Shell/Bash scripts for health checks, deployments, and operational automation
- JBoss EAP 7.x/8.x administration, including standalone and domain mode
- JBoss clustering and failover experience
- Azure Dev Ops administration — CI/CD pipelines, Azure Repos, branching strategies, pull requests, and branch policies
- Release management, deployment automation, and artifact management
- Environment approvals and release gates experience
- Middleware and web server administration
- Production support, monitoring, and troubleshooting experience
- Shell/Bash scripting for operational automation
- State government, Medicaid, or SNAP eligibility systems experience
- Prior public sector or Health & Human Services project experience
