You Are:

UST is searching for a Senior AWS Cloud Engineer to lead the migration of our on-premises workloads to AWS. This role is focused squarely on lift-and-shift migration - re-hosting existing applications, storage, and file transfer processes onto AWS infrastructure with minimal re-architecture, while establishing the content delivery, storage, and secure transfer patterns the environment will run on going forward. You will work closely with infrastructure, application, and security teams to plan cutover, containerize legacy workloads where needed, and ensure a smooth, low-risk transition from on-prem to the cloud.

The opportunity:
  • Plan and execute lift-and-shift migration of on-premises servers, applications, and workloads to AWS
  • Design and implement content delivery using Amazon Cloud Front and storage architecture using Amazon S3
  • Stand up and manage secure file transfer workflows using AWS Transfer Family (SFTP/FTPS/FTP)
  • Containerize legacy applications with Docker to prepare them for cloud-hosted environments
  • Assess on-prem workloads and dependencies to build migration runbooks, wave plans, and cutover strategies
  • Configure supporting AWS infrastructure - networking, compute, security groups, and IAM - for migrated workloads
  • Validate post-migration performance, cost, and security posture, and remediate issues found during cutover
  • Document migration architecture, runbooks, and operational procedures for the environment

This position description identifies the responsibilities and tasks typically associated with the performance of the position. Other relevant essential functions may be required.

  • Experience migrating on-prem file storage and data to S3 AWS Transfer Family
  • Hands-on experience standing up and managing AWS Transfer Family endpoints (SFTP/FTPS/FTP)
  • Experience integrating Transfer Family with S3 or EFS as backend storage
  • Understands user/identity management and access controls for managed file transfer Docker
