Role OverviewThe Applied Computation Scientist transforms complex data from research, manufacturing, operations, and business functions into clear, actionable insights through analysis and visualization. This role focuses on conducting analyses, building custom data‑processing solutions, creating compelling data visualizations, and developing dashboards that make diverse datasets accessible and interpretable across the organization. As a member of Kriya’s computational Center of Excellence, the Applied Computation Scientist works collaboratively with teams enterprise‑wide to understand analytical needs and deliver data‑driven insights.
This role requires scientific curiosity, strong visualization and communication skills, and creativity in applying emerging AI technologies to analytical challenges.
- Create interactive dashboards and compelling visualizations (Streamlit, Shiny) that communicate complex scientific and operational data clearly to diverse audiences.
- Develop custom data processing code to ingest, transform, and standardize diverse datasets from CRO studies, manufacturing systems, operational metrics, and business intelligence sources, preparing them for datalake storage and AI tool integration.
- Apply exploratory data analysis, statistical modeling, and quantitative methods to analyze experimental and operational data and translate into actionable recommendations.
- Work closely with scientists, manufacturing teams, business teams, and operations stakeholders to understand analytical needs and deliver data‑driven solutions.
- Innovate on applications of AI for data analysis and visualization, including prompt‑to‑visualization workflows.
- Document data transformations, analytical approaches, and workflows for reproducibility and knowledge transfer.
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Bioinformatics, Data Science, or related field;
PhD preferred. - 2-5 years of experience in data analysis, computational biology, or related role.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.
- Advanced knowledge of Python for data analysis and visualization (pandas, plotly, matplotlib, seaborn).
- Experience with statistical modeling and quantitative analysis (scipy, stats models, or similar).
- Experience building web applications and dashboards to present data and analyses (Streamlit, Shiny, or similar).
- Knowledge of AWS cloud platforms and data engineering concepts.
- Familiarity with version control (Git) and collaborative development practices.
- Experience with AI/ML applications and LLM integration preferred.
- Life sciences or biomedical background with ability to understand experimental and manufacturing data.
- Scientific curiosity and analytical mindset for exploring complex datasets.
- Strong data visualization skills with attention to effective communication of insights.
- Excellent written and verbal communication for working with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
