Utilizing research and analytical skills, a Director plays a significant role in producing pragmatic and provocative insights which Gartner clients consume and apply to propel their business toward key objectives.

They are a trusted source of advice for clients, reinforcing Gartner’s value every day by engaging them via in-person meetings, virtual meetings, sales support visits and Gartner conferences to discuss complex client challenges and offer appropriate recommendations.

As part of Gartner’s Corporate Assurance Practice, you will join a dynamic team focused on advising General Counsel (GC) and other assurance leaders at the world’s largest companies to create greater value for their firms. This role will meaningfully expand insight and support for GCs. We are looking for an entrepreneurial, self-motivated, and ideas-driven individual to help serve clients on the topics below.

Career experience with the development and deployment of privacy and information governance process, specifically from the perspective of in-house legal departments, will be valuable, as will deep familiarity with specific privacy workflows – including privacy impact assessments, consent management, subject rights requests, etc.

-- and collaboration with leaders in other corporate functions such as IT, Data & Analytics, Cybersecurity, etc.

The successful candidate will be comfortable discussing and researching topics including:

  • Legal’s role in establishing and maintaining a defensible privacy program
  • Information governance processes, challenges, workflows, and cross-functional relationships
  • Evolving privacy issues and how they impact organizational strategy, including sensitive personal information, privacy and AI, consumer trust, and data ethics
  • Emerging privacy regulations and issues (e.g., biometrics, AI governance, cross-border transfer restrictions)

What you will do:

  • Create innovative, thought provoking, and highly leveraged “must-have insights” content
  • Develop new insights and ideas through thought leadership and offer compelling, actionable approaches to client s needs and requests that accelerate the client s ability to act
  • Serve as a leading authority on privacy and information governance topics, such as:
    • Privacy strategy and program management
    • GDPR, CCPA, and other leading privacy regulations
    • Privacy impact assessments and DPIAs
    • Cross-border data transfer restrictions and processes
    • Data inventory and mapping
    • Data subject rights requests processes
    • Cookies and consent and preference management
    • Evolving issues in the privacy landscape, including AI and privacy, biometrics, and consumer trust and preferences.
  • Stay abreast of external trends in the privacy landscape, including related areas like AI and AI governance.
  • Collaborate with peers and other experts across teams (e.g., Legal, IT, Finance) to understand client challenges, current market dynamics, evaluate vendors, and establish shared and consistent thought leadership and positions on relevant issues
