Description of Job TERM LIMITED POSITIONThis position is term-limited with an anticipated end date of approximately three (3) years from the date of hire, with a strong probability for a 2-year extension. This position is eligible for State employee benefits and may be extended as the situation warrants. This video explains the many benefits of working at the State of Colorado on a term-limited basis.
IMPORTANT NOTEPlease review your application to ensure completion. Please do not include any attachments (such as resume or cover letter) with your application as these items are not used by OIT’s hiring team.
The AI Senior Delivery Manager Is Mandated With Turning The Vision Of Cross-cutting Scaffolding That Accelerates Effective AI-enabled Delivery Across The State Of Colorado Into Reality. A Member Of The OIT Delivery Management Guild, The AI Senior Delivery Manager Will Own a Portfolio Of Work Including
- OIT and Statewide AI deployments from pilot through scaled rollout, including AI coding tools that enable faster, more secure system modernizations and ongoing product development.
- The State’s “AI Street Sense” initiatives that help every state employee engage with AI where it improves services for Coloradans, and resist the pressure to adopt it where it doesn't.
- Strategy-to-Delivery:
Translate vision into sustainable initiatives that produce measurable improvements in the State’s maturity regarding responsible AI. - Risk & Delivery:
Anticipate and neutralize delivery risks before they impact stakeholders, ensuring initiatives remain resilient. - Process Improvement:
Identify opportunities to provide central scaffolding; regularly review and simplify processes that no longer serve the team. - Communication & Transparency:
Act as a translator between technical teams and leadership. Create boards and dashboards that track progress through outcome-focused metrics rather than bureaucratic activity. - Blocker Removal:
Actively navigate organizational, contractual, and technical obstacles, providing solutions rather than just documentation. - Consultation:
Provide technical assistance to colleagues across the state who are exploring how to leverage AI effectively within their functions.
This role is dynamic; as the AI landscape evolves, specific responsibilities may shift to meet the changing needs of the State.
This individual contributor position offers high autonomy and high accountability. The role sits within a purposefully "small but mighty" AI team with a unique goal: to diffuse AI competency across all of OIT so that, within 3-5 years, AI becomes "normal" technology and a standalone AI team is no longer needed. You will be a trusted thought partner to executive leadership, helping cultivate the culture, practices, and infrastructure to ensure AI delivers real value for Coloradans.
