Digital Content Assistant

The Digital Content Assistant will be involved with editing content on webpages across richmond.edu, with a particular focus on Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Generative Engine Optimization (GEO), and website accessibility. These efforts will help the university market to prospective students about the University of Richmond brand.

Primary duties will be to optimize existing content by fixing broken links, correcting spelling errors, and fixing other HTML errors. Students will learn how navigate and edit webpages using our content management system and our accessibility monitoring tool. Additional responsibilities may include providing creative input on new page designs and assisting with image curation using our asset management system.

This is a great opportunity to become familiar with best practices in web content management while staying up-to-date on emerging digital marketing techniques.

The student must be reliable, collaborative, and establish a work schedule. Assignments will have deadlines that are expected to be met. Hours are to be conducted primarily in-person on campus, with remote work a possibility. All work, conversation, or materials within University Communications are to be treated as confidential.

Specific duties include:

  • Become proficient with editing webpages in Cascade, our enterprise Content Management System (CMS).
  • Learn Siteimprove, our web accessibility and quality assurance platform. Become familiar with SEO, GEO, and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
  • Learn to use Basecamp, our project management tool for keeping track of assignments.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Strong grammar, proofreading, and editing skills. Knowledge of MS Office programs. Prior experience using a Content Management System (CMS), such as Squarespace or Wordpress, is preferred.

Pay Grade: SP Student 3, starting at $14.45
