On-site in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania | Thursday–Sunday, 9:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m. Eastern | Four 10-hour shifts

What to ExpectAs a member of Data Center Operations, you will help maintain Teraswitch infrastructure and provide operational coverage during overnight and weekend hours. You will respond to customer and internal requests, monitor active infrastructure issues, perform hands-on work at our Pittsburgh facility, and coordinate work at remote data center locations.
This role requires someone who can work independently, manage multiple priorities, communicate clearly, and recognize when an issue requires immediate escalation.
Responsibilities include:
- Monitor infrastructure alerts, support requests, and active operational issues.
- Respond to reported server, network, power, cooling, connectivity, and other infrastructure problems.
- Perform initial incident triage, gather relevant information, take documented corrective actions, and escalate when necessary.
- Maintain clear ticket updates, incident timelines, documentation, and shift handoffs.
- Install and maintain servers and network equipment, including rack-and-stack work, cabling, and physical device configuration.
- Run hardware diagnostics and replace failing components in a timely manner.
- Upgrade server components, including processors, memory, storage devices, network interfaces, cabling, and related hardware.
- Execute documented server-management, recovery, deployment, and maintenance procedures.
- Coordinate and direct remote-hands technicians and contractors at Teraswitch data center locations.
- Write clear Methods of Procedure for remote data center technicians to perform hardware and infrastructure work.
- Coordinate scheduled installations, maintenance events, migrations, shipments, and other overnight operational work.
- Work with facility staff to address power, cooling, cross-connect, and other facility-provided services.
- Coordinate facility maintenance and ensure service-affecting events are properly tracked and escalated.
- Work with vendor warranty technicians to ensure hardware issues are resolved promptly and correctly.
- Set up, maintain, audit, and document spare-parts inventory.
- Collaborate with Software, Network, Systems, Facilities, Logistics, and other internal teams.
- Maintain accurate documentation of infrastructure, completed work, hardware changes, and physical inventory.
- Proactively identify recurring problems and opportunities to improve operational efficiency.
- Follow established security, change-management, escalation, and access-control procedures.
- Three or more years of experience in data center operations, infrastructure support, systems support, or a similar technical role.
- Experience installing, configuring, diagnosing, repairing, and upgrading server hardware.
- Working knowledge of server components, network equipment, structured cabling, and data center facility services.
- Ability to independently prioritize concurrent customer, infrastructure, and operational issues.
- Sound judgment regarding when and how to escalate time-sensitive or service-affecting incidents.
- Ability to follow technical procedures precisely and document completed work clearly.
- Ability to coordinate technical work with remote-hands providers, contractors, vendors, and internal teams.
