Cactus Wellhead Position
This is a Cactus Wellhead position and is located in Houston, TX.
Hybrid: 4 days in office; 1 day working from home (Option)
Job Summary:
The Senior Cloud Platform Engineer is a hands-on technical role responsible for the administration, standardization, operational support, and continuous improvement of the company's Microsoft Azure environment. This position supports Azure subscriptions and platform services, implements approved governance and security requirements, deploys infrastructure using Terraform, and maintains and improves existing CI/CD capabilities. The role partners with Infrastructure, Networking, Cybersecurity, and application teams to support reliable cloud services and contribute technical guidance during architecture and solution reviews.
Essential Functions, Roles, and Responsibilities:
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following.
- Administer and support Microsoft Azure subscriptions, platform services, and cloud-hosted environments.
- Standardize subscription and resource configurations in accordance with approved cloud architecture, governance, naming, tagging, and access requirements.
- Provision and modify Azure infrastructure using Terraform and Terraform Cloud, maintaining reusable, version-controlled, and supportable configurations.
- Support and improve existing CI/CD pipelines and Git Hub runner capabilities, including troubleshooting deployment failures and recommending reliability and security improvements.
- Deploy, configure, and support Azure platform services, including Azure Container Apps, App Service, Azure Functions, and related application hosting components.
- Support Azure data and integration services such as Azure SQL, Databricks, Storage Accounts, Key Vault, and managed identities.
- Maintain monitoring, logging, alerting, and operational health capabilities using Azure-native platform tools.
- Troubleshoot cloud platform, infrastructure, and deployment issues and provide escalation support for critical service incidents as required.
- Collaborate with Cybersecurity to remediate cloud security posture management findings and implement approved security controls and hardening recommendations.
- Implement approved cloud networking configurations in coordination with Networking, including virtual networks, private endpoints, DNS, routing, and application delivery services.
- Assist with cloud cost management by reviewing utilization, identifying optimization opportunities, and supporting approved remediation activities.
- Participate in cloud and software solution architecture reviews, providing platform engineering guidance and implementation recommendations.
- Develop and maintain cloud standards documentation, deployment procedures, operational runbooks, and support documentation.
- Collaborate with Infrastructure, Networking, Cybersecurity, application teams, and third-party technical resources to improve cloud platform reliability, consistency, and operational maturity.
Education, Training,
Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. 5+ years of experience in cloud engineering, platform engineering, infrastructure engineering, Dev Ops, or a related technical role. Strong hands-on experience administering Microsoft Azure services in production environments, including Azure PaaS and cloud-native application platforms. Demonstrated experience deploying Azure infrastructure with Terraform and supporting CI/CD pipelines in a collaborative engineering environment.

Microsoft Certified:
Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104). Microsoft Certified:
Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305) or Dev Ops Engineer Expert (AZ-400). Hashi Corp Certified:
Terraform Associate.
Job Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure administration, subscription management, governance implementation, and production cloud operations. Strong proficiency with Terraform and Terraform Cloud, including modules, state management, version control, deployment troubleshooting, and infrastructure lifecycle changes. Experience supporting and improving CI/CD pipelines and Git Hub-hosted or self-hosted runner environments. Working knowledge of Azure PaaS services, including Azure Container Apps, App Service, Azure Functions, Databricks, Azure SQL, Key Vault, Storage Accounts, and managed identities.
Knowledge of Azure governance and security controls, including Azure Policy, role-based access control, management groups, resource standards, and CSPM remediation practices. Strong foundation in Azure networking concepts, including virtual networks, private endpoints, DNS, routing, load balancing, and application delivery services.
