Cyber Security Advisor – Cloud.
Location:
Las Vegas, NV or San Francisco, CA/Bay Area. Travel for assigned region (Las Vegas, San Francisco/Bay Area, Denver or assigned accounts) approximately 25%.
As a Cyber Security Advisor – Cloud, you will serve as a trusted partner to Optiv’s strategic clients. Combining sales skills and broad security practitioner knowledge, you will design cloud security solutions tailored to each client’s environment and provide consistent security expertise on all sales opportunities.
Responsibilities- Drive the generation of cloud services and technologies business to meet or exceed quarterly and annual quota objectives in partnership with the account and domain teams.
- Follow Optiv Standardized Sales Operating Processes (SOPs) to achieve consistent success.
- Understand and maintain knowledge of the client’s security environment, business operations, security needs, and risk appetite.
- Identify security concerns and correlate them to Optiv’s strategic solutions across the assigned domain and holistic cyber security programs.
- Identify cross-sell and upsell opportunities across clients and Optiv’s partner relationships.
- Qualify leads and partner with internal colleagues to determine scope, manage proposals, and follow through to closure.
- Participate in sales opportunities across Optiv’s entire portfolio.
- Articulate how Optiv technology and services meet client needs at the leadership level.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and maintain a broad understanding of the security landscape to facilitate thought leadership and guidance to clients and internal groups.
- Collaborate with service delivery to ensure the team has necessary domain specialty materials for a comprehensive approach.
- Work with multiple client personas and relevant personnel to develop security strategy, define roadmaps, and align business goals, budget, and ROI metrics.
- Maintain advisory relationships with key stakeholders at clients by facilitating thought leadership, support, and guidance in conjunction with sales partners.
- Maintain strong working relationships with relevant Optiv technology partners based on client spend.
- Bachelor’s Degree (BS/BA) or equivalent and applicable work experience.
- 4-7 years of experience in an information security role, preferably as a practitioner, consulting advisor, architect, or cybersecurity leader.
- 2+ years of experience in cybersecurity, focusing on secure cloud architecture and design for AWS, GCP, or Azure environments.
- Prior experience advising both technical and non-technical stakeholders on best practices for CNAPP/CSPM/CWPP products; hands‑on experience building secure cloud environments leveraging network and identity policies.
- Experience writing or reviewing IaC and CaC scripts or playbooks and performing knowledge transfers to clients/stakeholders.
- Experience with CNAPP, CSPM, or CWPP security products such as Google Wiz, Palo Alto Prisma Cloud, Orca, Crowdstrike Falcon Cloud Security, Aqua Security, and container security concepts.
- Highly motivated self‑starter who does not require daily management.
- Ability to work in a highly adaptable and nimble team environment with responsive communication.
- Thorough understanding of the current threat landscape, vulnerabilities, and defensive controls.
- Strong business and technical acumen and ability to lead technology‑focused discussions.
- Strong presentation, written, and oral communication skills, including whiteboard sessions and other presentation mechanisms.
- Strong attention to detail for reviewing statements of work (SOWs), quotes, and client deliverables.
- Maintains broad security-related knowledge and expands expertise across the portfolio.
- Relevant industry certifications such as CISSP, CRISC, CISM, C-CISO, etc. (preferred).
- Ability to work in‑person and remotely with distributed teams in a decentralized environment.
Total Target Compensation: $170,000 – $230,000+ annually. The range includes base salary and an uncapped bonus plan based on new and renewal business.
