About AI Training and Document Annotation

AI training is the human side of building artificial intelligence. People prepare and review examples so modern models can recognize information, understand language, and respond accurately.

In document annotation, contributors identify page structures, label visual regions, and transcribe text so AI systems can process real-world materials. Your work with Korean documents will help models handle Hangul, hanja, handwriting, tables, diagrams, and complex page layouts.

  • Contribute to cutting-edge document AI development
  • Use language and attention-to-detail skills in practical AI training work
  • Work remotely with a flexible schedule within the stated time commitment
The Role

Open Train is hiring a Korean PDF Annotation and Transcription Expert to create high-quality training data from publicly accessible Korean documents. Materials may include newspapers, textbooks, flyers, forms, manuals, and other documents with multimodal elements such as images, tables, diagrams, or handwriting.

You will create a structural map for each page and produce faithful transcriptions. Accuracy is critical: even a single incorrect jamo is considered a defect.

  • Subject matter:
    Korean PDF structure and transcription
  • Document type: PDF and other document materials
  • Labeling activities: classification, bounding boxes, and transcription
  • Experience level: entry level
  • Employment type:

    contractor and part-time
What You’ll Do

You will annotate page structure consistently across hundreds of pages, capture document metadata, and review completed work from colleagues. The role requires careful handling of both printed and handwritten Korean content, including mixed scripts and unfamiliar layouts.

  • Source publicly accessible Korean PDFs from assigned document types containing images, tables, diagrams, or handwriting
  • Identify and draw boundaries around every meaningful page region, including titles, headings, paragraphs, lists, tables, figures, diagrams, captions, formulas, questions, and answer fields
  • Assign each region a component type and reading-order index
  • Record parent-component relationships connecting regions to their related figures or tables
  • Transcribe all text exactly as shown in Hangul, including hanja and handwritten content
  • Flag regions that are illegible
  • Capture language, document type, source, and page dimensions
  • Flag pages or documents containing tables, formulas, and handwriting
  • Review a colleague’s completed tasks for accuracy and consistency
Requirements

This role requires native-level Korean fluency and the ability to work precisely with Hangul, hanja, and varied document formats. You should be comfortable applying a consistent annotation taxonomy repeatedly across a large document set.

  • Native Korean fluency with full command of Hangul and hanja
  • Experience in bilingual transcription, translation, editorial work, or AI training data
  • Character-level accuracy and exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to apply a consistent taxonomy across hundreds of pages
  • Comfort with multi-column newspapers, exam papers, handwritten forms, and mixed-script layouts
  • Ability to identify and accurately transcribe handwritten Korean content
