Job Description
As a Staff Engineer, you will work both independently and collaboratively with peers to translate customer needs into technical solutions. You will define and drive the technical direction of enterprise engineering platforms, with a focus on building scalable design and content enablement capabilities that are broadly adopted across the organization. Leveraging both internal resources and prior industry experience, you will partner with IT leadership and enterprise-wide stakeholders to ensure solutions are built with a long-term vision that aligns with enterprise platform requirements.
You will act as a force multiplier—raising the engineering bar through standardization, debt reduction, and resilient design patterns.
You will collaborate closely with IT leadership, product managers, and enterprise architecture to influence technical strategy, mentor senior engineers, and ensure delivered solutions support long-term platform scalability and business objectives.
Duties & Responsibilities
Designing Solutions
- Apply expert industry knowledge and broad understanding of multiple disciplines with technical knowledge to drive outcomes for customers.
- Work and problem solve independently on initiatives that align to the broader software engineering strategy.
- Design systems and software integration patterns across a diverse software engineering ecosystem, aligning to high-level engineering goals and business initiatives.
- Use independent, critical thinking to solve complex problems significant to the customer, leveraging application and system data as well as past experiences to inform decision making.
- Serve as a leader in technical expertise; develop the most architecturally impactful components of solutions.
- Lead efforts to identify, incorporate, and define development frameworks and libraries useful to the product.
- Seek out industry and technology knowledge along with best practices to share with the team.
- Coordinate design and integration of the entire system, including subsystems; research and recommend technology to improve current systems.
- Participate in team collaboration sessions to provide technical expertise and remove technical roadblocks.
- Participate in product planning and implementation; help the product owner create technical user stories as needed.
- Contribute to detailed application specifications, standards, and diagrams; develop coding standards and best practices.
- Broker solution design and implementation across product teams to achieve outcomes.
- Contribute to overall systems design involving multiple teams; research and provide customization or development recommendations, and implement accordingly.
- Act as a subject matter expert to provide overall operations and support processes to build resilient systems for the enterprise.
- Lead the design of critical path/technology for the product group and contribute to innovative solutions that align to strategic objectives.
- Provide platform technology expertise to teams within the product group as well as interdependent teams across the organization.
- Help define the technology and tools roadmap alongside the product owner.
- Partner with the engineering community, both internal and external, in establishing best practices.
- Share engineering standards across internal teams and collaborate to help software engineers apply these patterns to build effective solutions.
- Lead the resolution of critical incidents and provide leadership in proactively addressing product issues.
- Continuously assess technology to build more stable, scalable, and resilient software.
- Promote and expand the use of the CI/CD pipeline to improve the deployment and build process.
