This opportunity resides with Warfare Systems (WS), a business group within HII’s Mission Technologies division. Warfare Systems comprises cyber and mission IT; electronic warfare; and C5
ISR systems.

Job DescriptionMission Technologies, a division of HII, is seeking an AWS Dev Ops Engineer with hands-on experience supporting secure cloud environments, including AWS Gov Cloud.
The ideal candidate is skilled in automation, containerization, and building highly secure, scalable cloud infrastructure that aligns with federal and DoD requirements. Candidates must hold an active DoD security clearance and possess a Security+ or equivalent certification.
Candidates must reside within the Washington D.C. area. Frequent travel to Andrews Air Force Base will be required.
Ideal candidates will have the abilities to troubleshoot complex cloud, deployment, and infrastructure issues independently. Must possess a strong focus on automation, reliability, and secure-by-design cloud practices. Will be able to effectively communicate across engineering, operations, and security teams. We embrace intellectual curiousity. You must have a continuous learning mindset and proactive contribution to process and tooling improvements.
- Architect, deploy, and maintain cloud infrastructure and services within AWS and AWS Gov Cloud.
- Build Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using AWS CDK, Cloud Formation, or Terraform.
- Containerize applications using Docker and work with hardened images from Iron Bank.
- Develop and enhance CI/CD pipelines using AWS-native or enterprise Dev Ops tools such as Code Pipeline, Git Lab CI, or Jenkins.
- Configure, deploy, and manage AWS database services including RDS and Aurora.
- Apply secure-by-design principles and ensure all solutions meet compliance requirements.
- Manage monitoring, logging, alerting, and incident-response workflows using AWS-native services.
- Collaborate across engineering, security, and operations teams to improve automation, reliability, and deployment processes.
- Support efforts across the full Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
- 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
Practical experience with AWS Gov Cloud.
Security+ or equivalent certification (CCNA Security, GSEC, CASP+, etc.).
Proficiency with AWS CDK and containerization using Docker.
Experience working with Iron Bank or similar hardened image repositories.
Strong knowledge of RDS, Aurora, and core AWS database services.
