Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL) is seeking an Information Systems Project Manager to serve as the Software Asset Manager (SAM) supporting our Information Systems team. The SAM is responsible for the enterprise management and coordination of SDL’s software portfolio across the Corporate Network environments. The selected candidate will be accountable for software approvals, licensing, lifecycle management, supportability, portfolio visibility, and continuous improvement.
The SAM works directly with engineers, system administrators, security, programs, Procurement, Finance, Legal, and other stakeholders to ensure software is evaluated, approved, acquired, licensed, supported, sustained, and retired in a compliant, supportable, and operationally sound manner. The SAM is expected to actively drive software asset management processes, challenge gaps, ensure rigor in documentation and governance, and hold stakeholders accountable to agreed outcomes and lifecycle requirements.
This is an on-site, non-remote position for our North Logan, UT location.
Key Responsibilities:- Manages SDL’s enterprise Software Asset Management processes across Corporate and NEXCIS environments
- Maintains enterprise visibility of SDL’s software portfolio, including ownership, approval status, licensing, utilization, cost, support, renewals, and lifecycle status
- Serves as the central Information Systems focal point for software requirements and approvals, coordinating appropriate technical, cybersecurity, architecture, licensing, procurement, financial, legal, and operational reviews
- Ensures software evaluations consider existing enterprise capabilities, cybersecurity, licensing, infrastructure requirements, interoperability, supportability, total lifecycle cost, and long-term sustainability
- Manages software throughout its lifecycle from requirement and approval through acquisition, sustainment, renewal, modernization, and retirement, identifying lifecycle risks, technical debt, dependencies, and required actions
- Maintains accurate software licensing, entitlement, subscription, maintenance, and renewal information and ensures licensing compliance and audit readiness
- Monitors software utilization and coordinates audits, true-ups, renewals, and reconciliations to identify compliance risks and optimization opportunities
- Coordinates software vendor and contract activities, including renewals, maintenance agreements, licensing changes, vendor performance, and contract support
- Develops annual and multiyear software renewal and lifecycle forecasts to support budgeting, resource planning, contract negotiations, and technology planning
- Ensures software ownership, operational support responsibilities, and escalation paths are clearly established and incorporated into software governance and lifecycle processes
- Promotes software standardization and identifies opportunities to leverage existing capabilities, consolidate products and agreements, reduce costs, and improve supportability
- Develops dashboards, metrics, reports and communicate software portfolio status, costs, risks, lifecycle concerns, and recommendations to Information Systems leadership and stakeholders
- Continuously matures SDL’s Software Asset Management capability through process improvement, automation, governance, and industry best practices
- 10+ years of experience in IT roles, including experience with software asset management, IT asset management, enterprise software management, vendor management, or related responsibilities
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or an additional 5 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree
