Description of Work Salary Range: $87,617 - $131,426

The position is designated Statutory Exempt (EHRA) and is exempt from the State Human Resources Act.

This position may be eligible for hybrid remote work in accordance with state policy and the agency’s remote work program but does require weekly onsite work. Any telework will be under the conditions of the state Teleworking Program Policy and the employer may end any teleworking arrangement at any time in the employer's sole discretion.

We currently have an opening for an Applications Systems Specialist I.This position will be part of the Microsoft 365 Service Operations group of the North Carolina Department of Information Technology (NCDIT) Service Delivery division. Primary duties of this position will be to serve as a lead Subject Matter Expert (SME) and product specialist for the Microsoft 365 (M365) service within NCDIT and other Executive agencies.

The position is responsible for designing, implementing, and providing advanced support for the services deployed on M365 platforms by NCDIT. This includes understanding the M365 roadmap and finding solutions to align with the new features or technologies implemented by Microsoft within the North Carolina State policies and security guidelines. Additionally, this position will provide consulting to other State M365 Tenants in the area of security and configuration baselines.

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as the highest level of support in a technical support model responsible for handling the most difficult or advanced problems
• Perform high level troubleshooting of very technical and complex M365 issues.
• Act as a consultant to management in the review of policies, operations, controls, system development, and data communications and promote standardization across all implementations to lower the Total Cost of Ownership of the Microsoft 365 Suite to the state.
• Participate on Project Teams focusing on the Microsoft
365 infrastructure systems to ensure information technology information issues are addressed.
• Implement new releases of service components into the operational environment following well-defined controlled processes of change, configuration and release management.
• Develop implementation and deployment plans and coordinate with agencies before and during the execution of the project activity.
• Ensure application availability, correct configurations and provide team oversight of Microsoft 365 Suite.
