Proof Reader

D & R is a locally owned company, in business since 1990, located in Vestal, NY. We support commercial and defense firms in the development of their products. Those products are as diverse as subway cars, locomotives, military ships, trucks, jets, engine/generator sets, electronic equipment and much more. Our current work structure is a hybrid arrangement of work from home with occasional office visits.

Duties include proofreading / editing technical documentation for:

• Mistakes and inconsistencies in the subject matter.
• Consistency in terminology throughout a document.
• Language is simplified and easy to understand.

• Adherence to customer specification.
• Comment incorporation in document.
  • Missing/incomplete/incorrect information from source data.
  • Global (document-wide) issues
  • All cross-references are correct/updated

• Technical illustrations and text match each other (including Tables).
• Figure/callouts correspond with parts list items
• Artwork document size, font size, line weight, line styles match project specifications.

• Candidates must have a solid work ethic, positive attitude, and strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work from our office in Vestal, NY, as needed, is required.
• Good PC skills, including an ability to use MS Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat, are required.
• Strong English language skills/background preferred.
• Basic understanding of engineering parts lists, indentured relationship (assemblies / subassemblies) desired.
• Some editing and/or technical experience working with technical data such as engineering drawings is a plus, but not mandatory

Candidates will be required to successfully complete a skills assessment as part of the interview process.
