The Planning Modeler Manager supports the Multimodal Planning Division (MPD) under the direct supervision of the Senior Modeling Manager. Will provide assistance in the development, application, maintenance, and implementation of the Arizona Travel Demand Model (AZTDM), used in the analysis of transportation scenario planning. Will collaborate with GIS staff, planners, engineers, and consultants to produce, share, and interpret modeling output data for the decision making process.

This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

• Coding the modeling network input data files using the planning software platform used in the development of the statewide travel demand model. 100 Performing complex analysis related to a statewide transportation model to support management with data driven decision making.
• Submitting, monitoring, and managing model runs using the graphical user interface (GUI) of the statewide travel demand model.
• Producing technical documentation including workflows, metadata, training curriculum, reports and other analytical documentation to internal and external customers. Providing traffic projections for projects and federal reporting plus as needed within the agency and for COG's and MPO'sacross the State.

Knowledge of :

• Engineering principles, urban planning principles, statistical estimation techniques,and the development of scripts
• Computers and computer programminglanguages such as C++, R, or Python
• Planning software programs includingTransCAD
• Quantitative analysis best practices fortravel demand model usage
• Statistical software programs such asSPSS or SAS
• Technical documentation development best practices
• GIS programs including ArcGIS desktop orPro

Skill in:

• Interpreting geospatial data such as traffic data for use in statistical analysis
• Utilizing computers and transportation modeling data and software such asTransCAD, SPSS, or SAS
• Utilizing GIS databases for analysis toolsand GIS applications
• Determining appropriate methods of research and analysis
• Coordinating with coworkers, peers,leadership and stakeholders andother agencies
• Relational database, data points, and data tables
• Microsoft Office and Google Workspace

Ability to:

• Prepare and deliver written and oral presentations
• Develop technical documentation and reports
• Actively participate in transportation model development and application projects
• Successfully utilize modeling tools tosupport customers with targeted analysis
• Effectively communicate written and orally regarding technical topics
• Successfully conduct research and data analysis improving data and systems

Master's Degree preferred.

Basic Knowledge of transportation planning software (Cube, TransCAD, etc.).

Five (5) years minimum experience in department of transportation, traffic modeling, data analytics reporting.
