eRay Technologies is seeking an experienced Data Engineer to support large-scale data migration, ETL modernization, and data platform transformation initiatives. The role focuses on analyzing legacy data environments, understanding complex data lineage, optimizing SQL workloads, and supporting the migration of business-critical data assets across multiple database platforms.

Job Description

As a Data Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, analyzing, optimizing, and modernizing enterprise data pipelines and database environments. You will work with stakeholders, architects, business analysts, and development teams to understand legacy data implementations, trace dependencies, and ensure successful migration to modern data platforms.

The successful candidate will possess deep expertise in ETL processes, SQL development, data lineage analysis, and cross-platform database migrations involving SQL Server, Teradata, Oracle, and Snowflake. You will play a critical role in ensuring data quality, migration accuracy, and minimal business disruption during modernization programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain ETL workflows and data integration processes.
  • Develop and support SSIS packages and SQL Agent jobs.
  • Analyze and optimize complex SQL queries and database workloads.
  • Perform data lineage analysis and dependency mapping across enterprise systems.
  • Reverse engineer legacy ETL processes, reports, and integration workflows.
  • Support enterprise data migration and modernization initiatives.
  • Trace dependencies within tables, views, stored procedures, and job scheduling systems.
  • Conduct data validation, reconciliation testing, and quality assurance activities.
  • Support migration from legacy platforms to modern cloud and analytics environments.
  • Identify migration risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Participate in architecture reviews and technical design discussions.
  • Support cutover activities, implementation planning, and post-migration validation.
  • Create comprehensive technical documentation and migration artifacts.
Required Qualifications & Skills
  • 4–10 years of experience as a Data Engineer.
  • Strong hands‑on experience with SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services).
  • Experience managing and troubleshooting SQL Agent jobs.
  • Advanced SQL development expertise.
  • Strong experience with:
  • Microsoft SQL Server
  • Teradata
  • Oracle Database
  • Experience performing SQL tuning and query optimization.
  • Strong expertise in data lineage analysis and dependency tracing.
  • Experience reverse engineering complex ETL and reporting processes.
  • Proven experience supporting enterprise data migration programs.
  • Strong understanding of data validation and reconciliation methodologies.
  • Experience with migration quality assurance and production cutovers.
