Piper Companies is seeking a Technical Support Engineer to support a leading organization in the networking and technology space. This is a hybrid opportunity located in the RTP (Research Triangle Park), NC area, with a required onsite presence every Tuesday and remote work for the remainder of the week. This position offers an initial 3-month contract with quarterly extensions and strong long-term potential.
The Technical Support Engineer will work directly with customers and internal teams to support onboarding, implementation, platform adoption, and technical troubleshooting efforts, serving as a trusted resource for IT infrastructure, networking, and connectivity-related initiatives.
- Partner with customer IT and infrastructure teams to support onboarding, implementation, and activation of technology solutions.
- Assist with the deployment, configuration, and support of virtual machine-based collectors, integrations, and monitoring tools within customer environments.
- Provide technical guidance related to networking, connectivity, system access, DNS, IP addressing, firewall policies, and authentication requirements.
- Support cloud-based implementations, API integrations, system migrations, and platform adoption initiatives.
- Troubleshoot infrastructure, networking, and application issues while coordinating resolutions with engineering and support teams.
- Deliver technical training, end-user guidance, and best practices to ensure successful platform utilization.
- Document customer environments, technical configurations, troubleshooting efforts, and implementation milestones.
- 2+ years of experience in technical support, IT support, network support, help desk, systems administration, customer-facing technical roles, or a related technical position.
- Hands-on experience with networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, firewalls, SSH, SNMP, and virtualized environments.
- Experience with Windows environments, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Entra (Azure AD), Windows Server, or other enterprise IT infrastructure technologies is preferred.
- Understanding of cybersecurity concepts including vulnerability management, software patching, system hardening, CVEs, and endpoint security.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose technical issues across infrastructure, networking, and software environments.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Network Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
- $28-$35/hr
