Overview
GovCIO is a team of transformers — people who are passionate about transforming government IT. We believe in making a difference by developing digital strategies and delivering the technology-related innovation that improves governmental operations each day.
GovCIO is hiring a Vice President, Health IT Strategy & Transformation to serve as a senior consulting partner and strategic-advisory partner to our federal Health IT portfolio — advising on mission strategy, leading delivery operations, and guiding modernization at the enterprise level. This role requires a leader who can seamlessly bridge mission strategy, technology-driven transformation, strategic communications, and execution—moving confidently from C‑suite and enterprise operating‑model decisions to aligning stakeholders and driving implementation at the program level.
The ideal candidate combines top-tier consulting pedigree, sharp strategic‑communications instincts, executive presence, and the judgment to advise C‑level federal health IT stakeholders on transformation that spans the full enterprise — not just a single program or contract. Experience supporting the US Department of Veterans Affairs is required. This position is fully remote within the United States, with core hours of operation Monday through Friday, 8am–5pm EST.
This is an outstanding opportunity to shape strategic direction and mission outcomes for programs that directly affect Veterans and their beneficiaries. You will work collaboratively with VA account senior leadership, delivery team members, subject matter experts, clients, vendors, and teaming partners — serving as a strategic advisor, enterprise transformation lead, and ambassador for GovCIO's advisory and technology offerings at the C-level.
StrategicAdvisory & Enterprise Transformation Leadership
Serve as a trusted strategic advisor to senior federal health IT executives, translating clinical and mission needs into actionable, enterprise-wide modernization and delivery strategy.
Lead enterprise-level transformation efforts — aligning operating model, governance, workforce, and technology change across the full breadth of the account.
Bring deep subject‑matter expertise in federal Health IT — program structures, health data and interoperability considerations, health‑specific compliance and security requirements, and the health mission environment broadly — or demonstrate the ability to rapidly build this expertise on top of strong federal transformation credentials.
Advise clients on digital transformation strategies, specifically the adoption of AI and emerging technologies within Health IT environments, including responsible‑AI governance, use‑case prioritization, and integration with existing modernization roadmaps.
Represent GovCIO's point of view on Health IT strategy and enterprise digital transformation in client‑facing settings, including with C‑level stakeholders.
Operate effectively between mission strategy, technology transformation, strategic communications, and implementation, moving from ambiguous executive‑level problems through structured analysis and strategy development to stakeholder alignment and execution.
Stay current on legislation and policy developments affecting Veterans and the VA mission, and translate their implications into program and delivery strategy.
Own the strategic‑communications thread that runs through every engagement — executive messaging, change communications, board‑and Congress‑ready materials, and stakeholder communications plans for large‑scale transformation that build understanding, alignment, and support complex change.
Craft and deliver executive‑level presentations and briefing materials that translate…
