Zurich is seeking an experienced Underwriter OR Underwriting Specialist to join our E&S team in Atlanta, GA. While this position will be based in our Atlanta office, you will have the flexibility to work on a hybrid basis and set a flexible schedule that supports you, our customers, and our brokers and agents. This role requires you to be visible in the marketplace to meet with our agents and brokers and to partner with national wholesalers to drive growth with a focus on profitability.

• Proactively seeking new account opportunities and managing existing renewal accounts.
• Demonstrating specialized knowledge and expertise in underwriting excess casualty lines of business.
• Completing detailed opportunity assessments with key distributors to identify growth opportunities.
• Contributing to the development and completion of proposals.
• Qualifying accounts that meet the organization's appetite, balanced with sound business opportunity.
• Making agent/broker/customer and on‑site calls with a planned and well‑prepared purpose.
• Negotiating terms & conditions and closing deals.
• Cross‑selling other lines of business to increase product density with the account.
• Participating in sales team meetings related to assigned brokers and/or territory.
• Proactively engaging in the target account process, managing a qualified list of opportunities 90 to 120 days prior to effective date.
• Developing strong broker and client networks as related to industries underwritten by the Business Unit.

Underwriter – Zurich E&S Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent and 1 or more years of experience in the underwriting or market‑facing area.
• High School Diploma or equivalent and 2 or more years of experience in the claims or underwriting support area.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Experience working under time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business.
• Experience working in a team environment.

Underwriting Specialist Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent and 3 or more years of experience in the underwriting or market‑facing area.
• High School Diploma or equivalent and 6 or more years of experience in the claims or underwriting support area.
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an associate degree and 1 or more years of experience in the underwriting or market‑facing area.
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an associate degree and 4 or more years of experience in the claims or underwriting support area.
• Knowledge of line(s) of business and the legal and regulatory guidelines.
• Knowledge of time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business.
• Experience with Microsoft Office.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Microsoft Office experience.

Your pay at Zurich is based on your role, location, skills, and experience. We follow local laws to ensure fair compensation and you may be eligible for bonuses and merit increases. The combined salary range for this position is $60,000.00 – $. The proposed salary range for the Underwriter is $60,000.00 – $95,000.00 with short‑term incentive bonus eligibility set at 10%.

The proposed salary range for the Underwriting Specialist is $75,000.00 – $ with short‑term incentive bonus eligibility set at 15%.
