The main function of a claims adjuster/specialist is to investigate, evaluate, and settle insurance claims. A typical claims adjuster/specialist is responsible for reviewing documentation, conducting interviews, and determining the extent of liability. This role often involves working with various technologies and systems to manage claims efficiently and ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards.

• Examine claims forms and other records to determine insurance coverage.
• Investigate claims by interviewing claimants, witnesses, and consulting relevant documents.
• Evaluate damage and determine the appropriate compensation based on policy terms.
• Prepare detailed reports and communicate findings to claimants and insurance providers.
• Negotiate settlements and authorize payments within designated limits.
• Maintain accurate records of claims and correspondence using specialized claims management software.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and analytical thinking.
• Ability to manage time effectively and work independently.
• Knowledge of insurance policies, procedures, and applicable laws and regulations.
• Experience with claims processing systems and general office software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Attention to details.
• Good communication skills.

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or a related field preferred.
• 0–2 years of experience in insurance claims, customer service, or related fields.
• Familiar with cargo claims.
