The opportunity

We currently have an opportunity for a Subrogation Examiner to join our Claims team based in our Plymouth, MN or Denver, CO office on a hybrid schedule or remotely nationwide. This position is responsible for resolving highly complex subrogation claims through investigation, evaluation and disposition. Within company guidelines, makes appropriate recommendations to management on coverage and settlement. Reviews and processes highly complex subrogation claims revolving around workers compensation claims.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Makes timely and appropriate contacts, conducts a thorough investigation to assess liability and determine damages for highly complex claims. Determines whether additional evidence is required (e.g., accident reports, accident scene reconstructions, witness statements, police reports, expert opinions).
  • Independently manages a caseload and negotiates settlements within broad limits of assigned authority. Provides recommendations for settlement and disposition of claims exceeding authority level.
  • Assigns and directs activities of internal and external resources as required (including subrogation attorneys and collection agencies).
  • Identifies, prepares and refers files suitable for inter-company arbitration or suit.
  • Documents all relevant activity on assigned files clearly and concisely and recommends additional activity as appropriate.
  • Anticipates and meets customer needs (internal and external).
  • Coaches and trains less experienced subrogation representatives or trainees.
  • Manages and completes assigned special projects.

The expertise you bring

  • 5-7 years of claims and/or subrogation experience.
  • Occupational Health Claim Resolution experience is a plus.

Compensation and benefits

Our salary ranges are determined by location, role, experience and skillset. The target base salary for new hires is typically $77,000 - $109,000, with higher ranges in certain locations (e.g., San Francisco, CA; Washington DC; Massachusetts offices; New York City metro area) at $97,000 - $114,000. Full-time employees are eligible for bonus potential and a comprehensive benefits package including:
