Commercial Auto Liability Claims Examiner III (Temporary)

We are currently seeking an experienced Commercial Auto Liability Claims Examiner III for a temporary assignment supporting the New York State Office of General Services (OGS).

This role will handle New York commercial auto liability claims
, including complex and litigated files. While this position may be fully remote, candidates must be able to work standard Eastern Standard Time (EST) business hours.

If you have strong New York claims experience and are confident managing complex exposures with minimal supervision, this is an excellent opportunity.

This role is responsible for the prompt and thorough review of policy coverage, endorsements, and vehicle schedules to determine coverage for loss, damage, or injury. The Examiner will conduct detailed investigations and manage claims through final resolution, including litigated matters.

Frequent communication with claimants, legal representatives, client counsel, and investigative service providers is required.

• Review, investigate, evaluate, and resolve complex Commercial Auto Liability claims (total incurred $25,000+)
• Determine coverage based on policy review and endorsements
• Establish and maintain accurate reserves
• Conduct liability analysis and prepare detailed Loss Reports
• Oversee outside investigative vendors and collaborate with client counsel
• Manage litigated claims and coordinate with defense attorneys
• Assess subrogation and risk transfer opportunities
• Maintain detailed and organized claim file documentation
• Provide exceptional service to the client (public entity exposure)
• Maintain an ongoing diary system and proactively manage file progression

• Minimum 5 years Commercial Auto Liability claims experience
• At least 3 years handling NY auto liability claims
• Experience handling litigated claims
• Strong knowledge of coverage analysis, liability evaluation, and reserve setting
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Advanced analytical and negotiation abilities
• Ability to manage files independently in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work EST business hours (remote flexibility available)

• Public entity claims experience
• Bachelor’s degree in related field
• Fully Remote (must work EST hours)
