Job Description Crum & Forster is looking for a Sr. Claims Specialist who will be a key part of a dynamic team. You will manage an assigned pending of Construction Defect claims and operate under appropriate levels of supervision and within established authority. The position reports to the assigned Manager, Director or Vice President, as determined by business needs. This role can be filled at the Claims Specialist or Senior level depending on the candidate’s skills and experience.
WhatYou Will Do For C&F
- Receive claim assignments, verify and determine applicability of coverage.
- Interpret complex coverage issues and write reservation of rights and declination of coverage letters.
- Determine the method and extent of investigation for each claim as required by company Best Practices.
- Review and manage claim files for adequacy and timeliness of investigation, evaluation and reserve; maintain a timely diary for each claim.
- Evaluate and adjust claims within the adjuster’s authority level.
- Report directly on technical matters to supervisor or management.
- Evaluate and manage litigated claims and determine future course of handling and disposition.
- Consult with the assigned Manager, Director or Coverage unit on claims needing assistance or exceeding authority.
- Assess risk transfer and development of information required to address tender issues.
- Assess recovery potential and development of information required to pursue recovery.
- Ensure equitable and prompt adjustment and management of assigned claims in accordance with Best Practices.
- Provide superior customer service to all agents, insureds, and others encountered during the claims handling process.
- Minimum of three years Construction Defect claims or similar legal experience.
- College degree required or equivalent experience.
- Insurance designation and/or related courses are a plus.
- Obtain and maintain required state licenses.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate with all levels within the organization.
- Computer skills with a working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite.
- Occasional travel required.

The advertised annual base pay ranges from $55,800 to $104,900, with actual compensation determined by factors including market pay, responsibilities, skills, and performance.
