• Perform routine selection, evaluation, and pricing of assigned risks for various lines of commercial insurance
• Review new and renewal business requests to determine acceptability based on applicable rules and guidelines
• Set up new business and rating, including gathering necessary information for quotes and proposals
• Issue and assemble policies, ensuring proper policy construction in accordance with industry rules
• Process endorsements, cancellations, and other policy transactions as required

• High school diploma required
• Minimum of two years’ experience in a professional business or insurance environment preferred
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is preferred and may substitute for experience
• Working knowledge of underwriting principles, risk selection, and classification
• Proficient in Excel and capable of effective communication and relationship-building

• Previous commercial lines underwriting experience is preferred
• Strong critical thinking and decision‑making skills
• Ability to multi‑task and adjust priorities based on changing situations
• Familiarity with state‑specific underwriting laws and rules
• Experience working in a team environment
