Senior Truck Underwriter; Fleet

IAT Insurance Group has an immediate opening for a Senior Underwriter within the Commercial Truck Team to support our fleet segment.

Location:

Scottsdale, Arizona or Spring, Texas. The role is hybrid, working from an IAT office Monday through Wednesday, with remote work Thursday and Friday. Occasional travel is required.

• Evaluate, assess, price, and recommend handling of accounts beyond the agent’s granted authority, and if necessary, present the account in collaboration to obtain approval.
• Manage, evaluate, analyze, and assess the book of new and renewal business, recommending pricing, acceptability, coverage considerations, cancellations, non-renewals, and other actions to maximize profitability.
• Interpret, trend, and develop loss information from prior carriers, analyze financial information, and prepare governmental and industry reports for each account.
• Travel as needed to work with assigned agents to evaluate submission flow, account acceptability, and overall profitability of each agent and wholesaler.
• Call, correspond, and meet with assigned agency partners to maintain open communication for holistic agency management.
• Provide outstanding customer service.
• Build effective working relationships with assigned agency personnel as well as internal company staff.
• Drive acceptable levels of new business opportunities through effective marketing to assigned agents.
• Effectively communicate with assigned agents the appropriate level of information to ensure understanding of company direction.
• Perform other tasks as needed.

• Bachelor’s degree and at least five years of experience in commercial insurance (equivalent to nine years of relevant experience).
• Experience managing agents in a given territory.
• Knowledge of the transportation/Class A trucking insurance industry.
• Ability to creatively utilize coverage features, deductibles, or reinsurance on individual risks to achieve company objectives.
• Strong math aptitude and excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal and negotiating skills.
• Knowledge of various computer programs, internet-based programs, PC literacy, and spreadsheet proficiency.
• Authorized to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship.

• CPCU, ARM, or AU industry designations.
• INS
  21, 22, and 23 or equivalent.
