Job Summary
P&C Private Client Group (PCG/affluent lines) is a division of NFP Property & Casualty. We are a retail operation for affluent and wealthy individuals and families seeking personal lines products in the United States, parts of Europe, and Canada. Our headquarters are in New York City with offices across the country - specializing in insurance ranging from homeowners and auto to specialty lines, such as aircraft and watercraft.
The Assistant Vice President will manage new and existing clients, maintain strong relationships with key client stakeholders and carriers, and be responsible for policy compliance and human resources functions.
This is a full-time role with the flexibility of a hybrid work schedule of at least 2-3 days a week from our Berkeley Heights, NJ office and other days from home. Being in the office is essential for fostering interaction, immediate feedback, and stronger team relationships, all of which are crucial for strategic alignment of this position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with complex and large clients; act as the subject matter expert on Property & Casualty and carrier products and services.
- Maintain and manage solid relationships with clients and carrier sales representatives; negotiate with carriers for the best possible result.
- Work with internal and external centers of influence to develop relationships.
- Work with the Senior Leadership team to develop regional client deliverables; ensure deliverables are executed within local office(s) and are complete, accurate, and conform to NFP standards. Make adjustments as necessary.
- Attend renewal and strategy meetings with high-profile or difficult clients; manage team structure and monitor team workload to determine capacity to take on new clients.
- Must be able to work a hybrid schedule from our Berkeley Heights, NJ office.
- Maintain a private workspace when working from home, secure company equipment and correspondence, have high‑speed internet, be present and responsive online, and minimize personal interruptions.
- Have Personal Lines and High Net Worth/Private Client Group (PCG) client coverage experience.
- Have P&C Account/Client Management experience with a retail brokerage or independent agency.
- Familiarity with major markets such as AIG, Chubb/ACE, PURE, Berkley One, and Cincinnati, including knowledge of their products, appetite, and quoting systems.
- Be able to read, analyze and reconcile financial reports.
- Be highly professional and self‑motivated.
- Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills, able to communicate with clients, colleagues, carriers, and interact with a variety of personalities.
- Proficiency in Outlook, Word, and Excel; possess technical expertise plus solid analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent written communication skills—write clearly; edit for spelling and grammar; vary writing style; present numeric data effectively; read and interpret written information.
- Self‑confident to make sound independent decisions and demonstrate strong leadership skills.
- Ability to handle situations calmly, courteously, and professionally.
- Ideally more than 10 years of Personal Lines industry and product line experience with extensive High Net Worth Account/Client Management experience, including at an independent agency or retail insurance brokerage.
- Familiarity with major markets and carriers such as Travelers and Progressive and the National Flood Insurance Program.
- Leadership and supervisory experience, including training or mentorship.
- Experience with an agency management system/CRM required; fluency with Epic a plus.
- A bachelor’s degree preferred. HS Diploma or GED required with additional learning/certifications.
- P&C Insurance License required upon hire.
- CIC, CPCU or other P&C designation preferred.

The base salary range for this position is $90,000 – $140,000.
The base salary offered will be determined by factors including, but not limited to, experience, credentials, education, certifications, skill level required for the position, the scope of the position, and geographic location. Actual base salary offered will be determined on a case‑by‑case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance‑based incentives.
