ABOUTTHE ROLE
We are seeking an experienced Workers' Compensation Claims Examiner to join our growing team in Phoenix, Arizona. In this key role, you will independently manage a caseload of complex WC claims from first report of injury through resolution — ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant claim handling at every stage.
This is a hybrid position requiring in-office presence two days per week, with the flexibility of remote work the remaining days. You will collaborate closely with claimants, employers, medical providers, defense counsel, and applicant attorneys to drive quality outcomes across your caseload.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES- Investigate workers' compensation claims from first report of injury through closure; determine compensability and coverage.
- Calculate and issue timely indemnity payments; establish and maintain appropriate reserve levels.
- Coordinate medical treatment for injured workers; authorize care and manage return-to-work processes.
- Direct defense counsel on represented files; attend mediations, hearings, and settlement conferences.
- Negotiate claim settlements with applicant attorneys within authority guidelines.
- Maintain regulatory compliance in accordance with Arizona WC statutes and guidelines.
- Prepare claim files for internal and external audits; respond to audit findings.
- Maintain proactive diary management and meet all state-mandated processing deadlines.
- Communicate professionally and timely with claimants, employers, physicians, and legal representatives.
- Document all claim activity with thorough, accurate, and timely notes and correspondence.
- Minimum 3 years of workers' compensation claims handling experience required.
- Arizona workers' compensation knowledge strongly preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- Active Arizona adjuster license with WC line of authority, or ability to obtain upon hire.
- Experience with claims management systems and diary platforms.
- Technical knowledge of Arizona workers' compensation statutes and regulations.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with sound decision-making ability.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Diary management discipline with strict adherence to deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Skilled negotiator with demonstrated experience in claim settlement.
- Ability to manage a high-volume caseload independently and efficiently.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills with a collaborative, professional demeanor.
