AVP Underwriting Manager- Construction Property

Zurich North America is hiring an AVP, Underwriting Manager, Construction Property to join our Specialties Construction Property underwriting team in Zurich’s Midwest Region.

As a member of Zurich's Underwriting Management Team, you will manage a market-facing underwriting unit, handle complex new and renewal accounts across Builder’s Risk, Contractor’s Equipment, and Fixed Property lines, and build relationships with our Preferred Distribution Partners within the Midwest region.

Travel will be approximately 25% of the schedule.

• Managing market-facing underwriters and underwriting associates who proactively seek renewal and new account opportunities.
• Identifying new growth opportunities with key distributors for areas of responsibility.
• Ensuring that accounts are qualified and meet the organization’s appetite, balanced with sound business opportunity.
• Conducting agent, broker, customer and on-sight calls with a planned and well-prepared purpose.
• Overseeing negotiations of Terms & Conditions and closing deals.
• Ensuring cross-sell within areas of responsibility to increase product density with the account.
• Providing continuous coaching on sales best practices, mentoring staff to develop strong broker and client networks as related to industries underwritten by the Business Unit.

• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 7 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area
• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 14 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area
• 2 or more years of management experience

• CPCU
• Advanced knowledge of Construction Property product lines and the commercial insurance industry
• Strong broker relationships in the Eastern region
• Excellent skills in relationship building
• Results oriented

Your pay at Zurich is based on your role, location, skills and experience. The proposed salary range for this position is $ - $, with Global Specialty Incentive Plan bonus eligibility set at 40%.
