Property Claims Adjuster II; Albuquerque, NM - WFH

Job Overview

Nationwide’s Property and Casualty team is looking for a Head of Claims Systems for the Albuquerque, NM area. This work‑from‑home role involves day travel to field locations (3–4 days a week) and includes onsite and virtual claim inspections. The position may also support additional territories in a desk adjuster capacity and occasional overnight travel.

• Handle assigned claims promptly and effectively with minimal oversight.
• Make decisions within delegated authority as outlined in company policies and procedures.
• Determine proper policy coverages and apply appropriate claims practices to resolve cases in alignment with company guidelines.
• Open, close, and adjust reserves according to company practices to ensure reserve adequacy.
• Adhere to file conferencing notification and authority procedures.
• Maintain current knowledge of insurance and applicable product/services, court decisions, guidelines, and policy changes.
• Maintain current knowledge of local industry repair procedures and local market pricing.
• Submit severe incident reports, reinsurance reports, and other information to claims management as needed.
• Partner with Special Investigations Unit and Subrogation to identify fraud and subrogation opportunities.
• Assist or prepare files for lawsuit, trial, or subrogation.
• Initiate and conduct follow‑ups through proficient use of claims and other related business systems.
• Deliver an outstanding customer service experience to all internal, external, current and prospective Nationwide customers.
• Adhere to high standards of professional conduct while providing delivery of outstanding claim service.
• Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

• 3–5 years of insurance field/property claims handling or adjusting experience.
• Solid experience with Xactimate and writing own estimates.
• Construction background/experience – Residential, Roofing, Remodeling, Water mitigation, etc.
• Strong customer service competency.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• CAT duty is a requirement of this role.
• Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience.
• Obtain Xactimate Level 1 certification within a year of start date;
  Level 2 within two years.
• State licensing where required and successful completion of required claims certification or training classes.
• Ability to safely access and inspect rooftops using a ladder, including first and second story roofs with pitches up to 8/12.
• Ability to work irregular hours, travel, and be on call for catastrophes (CAT).
