In this highly visible role as Underwriting Director, FCCI Specialty is seeking an influential underwriting leader to own the Senior Underwriting production team, drive profitable new business growth and new product development. Reporting directly to Senior Leadership, the Director will serve as the primary referral authority for the Senior Underwriting team including establishing and communicating underwriter performance goals, reviewing submission referrals, and overall performance management and training.

This role will allow for hands‑on access to handle FCCI Specialty's most complex accounts, accurately assessing account eligibility as well as leading product and process improvements, determining rating methodology and many other key aspects for the successful growth of our E&S Division.

This position may be based at one of FCCI's offices in Richmond, VA, Lawrenceville, GA, or Corporate Headquarters in Sarasota, FL, or performed on a remote (within FCCI states) or hybrid basis depending on candidate location and business need.

The salary range for this position is $141,236-$217,503 annually. This salary range is an estimate and the actual salary will vary based on applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferred. NOTE - Relevant, progressively responsible work experience may be substituted on a year for year basis for the required education
  • Minimum of eight years of E&S underwriting with focus on casualty lines; including three years in a leadership role
  • Advanced knowledge of current market conditions, trends, competition, and new products / coverages being offered by competitors
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively assess risks, price, and negotiate business in accordance with established guidelines
  • Thorough understanding of key exposures and portfolio pricing techniques
  • Knowledge of forms and coverages
  • Ability to propose, research and implement new product development
  • Recognize variances to plan and propose corrective actions
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Ability to analyze, define and solve problems; the use of good judgment and decision‑making
Preferred
  • CPCU/Professional designation is preferred
