Summary
The Claims Analyst handles complex and high exposure bodily injury and property damage claims under Ryder’s self-administered liability program. This position investigates and adjusts claims, and directs defense counsel, independent adjusters, experts, and other vendors in the claim-handling processes.
Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent experience and seven or more (7+) years of experience in casualty claims.
- Strong claim technical skills.
- Adjuster licenses are required for various States;
State licenses are a plus, and obtaining necessary licensing will be required within 90 days. - Demonstrated ability to handle large exposure and complex claims, including litigated matters and coverage cases.
- Strong commitment to customer focus and effective interpersonal skills.
- Superior negotiation skills and comprehensive understanding of insurance coverage and applicable laws and regulations.
- Complete detailed and quality internal reports.
- Investigate and adjust claims, and direct outside defense counsel, independent adjusters, experts, and other vendors in the claim-handling processes.
- Assist Claim Manager in identifying exposures and recommend solutions.
- Maintain comprehensive understanding of laws and regulations governing Property and Casualty claims in the US, Canada, and Puerto Rico.
- Alert Claim Manager to changes in laws that could impact Ryder’s liability program.
- Interact on‑going with field and operations management, legal counsel, safety managers, customers, insurance carriers, and third‑party claimants.
- Collaborate with Law Department on significant cases and update field operations on claim status.
- Supervise outside vendors for investigations, cost containment, expert witnesses, and litigation management.
- Interact with primary and excess insurance carriers and reinsurers on files meeting reporting thresholds.
- Assist Claims Manager when appropriate or in their absence.
- Assist team members on technical issues.
- Set reserves to reflect probable ultimate payout based on documented file developments.
- Investigate and resolve complex high exposure claims pursued against Ryder and insured customers.
- Ensure appropriate and cost‑effective resolution of all claims and maintain a high level of customer service.
- Handle cases in compliance with state statutes.
Salaried position with a pay range of $90,000 to $100,000 per year. Eligible for an annual bonus, commission, and/or long‑term incentive plan based on level and type.
