Zurich is looking for an RCIS Crop Claims Specialist to work from a home-based office in Kansas. The successful candidate will be based primarily in the counties of Mitchell, Cloud, Jewell, and Lincoln and may be required to travel up to 50% of the time within the state.
OverviewRCIS is one of the leading crop insurance providers in the U.S., offering protection in all 50 states through a national network of about 3,600 licensed agents. The role supports the Rural Community Insurance Services (RCIS) team in safeguarding America’s farmers and ranchers.
Responsibilities- Work the most complex claims involving multiple causes of loss and quality issues.
- Exercise judgement to determine liability by gathering and analyzing relevant facts and applicable procedures.
- Determine policy verification and coverage by analyzing applicable coverage and assessing loss eligibility.
- Assist with training of lower-level adjusters for Multi‑Peril Crop Insurance (MPCI) and Crop Hail (CH).
- Complete Quality Assurance reviews, including conflict of interest, production history, and high‑value MPCI policy reviews, with authority to modify unit structure as needed.
- Handle specialty crop claims as directed by the local manager or area.
- Complete Crop Hail re‑inspections when requested for quality assurance.
- Work claims of 508H (Risk Management Agency pilot) crops.
- Assist the national training team in adjuster trainings.
- Serve as subject‑matter expert for projects and committees assigned by management.
- Review team performance and identify trends or issues that could impact quality assurance.
- Handle claims that may require subrogation and/or litigation.
- Maintain confidentiality of claims information to protect Zurich’s reputation.
- Stay current with industry trends and maintain professional knowledge through education and professional societies.
- High School Diploma or equivalent with at least 4 years of experience in agriculture or the crop insurance industry.
- Crop Adjuster Proficiency Program Certification (CAPP) obtained within 180 days of hire.
- Personal transportation for travel within and outside the assigned territory, including support of CAT team and remote assistance for CROP Claims Care Center and CCP Claims.
- Physical ability to walk up to 3 miles in fields, climb storage bins up to 25 feet, lift 25–50 lbs, and work outdoors in varying temperatures and weather conditions.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong organization and prioritization skills.
Salary range: $49,500–$81,000, with short‑term incentive bonus eligibility of 10%. Additional bonuses and merit increases may be available.
