Job Description
As a Field SIU Investigation Property/Casualty you will investigate and analyze complex, multi‑discipline coverage and claims referred to the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) for potential fraud. Responsibilities include conducting background searches, scene investigations, clinic inspections, recorded statements, reviewing medical notes and property damage, witness interviews, social media searches, surveillance, scene reconstructions, and supporting lawsuits. You will provide guidance to less senior employees and mentor the team.
We are seeking an experienced Field SIU Investigator to handle a variety of field‑based investigative claims across multiple lines, including personal auto, property, homeowners, and casualty. The ideal candidate will have direct SIU experience working for an insurance carrier, a strong background in property or casualty investigations, or a solid foundation in law enforcement field investigations. You must be comfortable working independently in the field, conduct thorough and detailed investigations, adapt to changing priorities, and be able to stay organized.
Candidates must reside within close proximity to service claims in areas south of Baltimore, Maryland, including Fort Meade or Waldorf.
- Enter SIU claim data into multiple SIU systems
- Review investigations with fraud outcomes to validate appropriateness of denial
- Update files with investigation outcomes and, when no fraud or insufficient evidence is found, return file to MCO for further handling and settlement
- Conduct complex online data application searches, research, and evaluation
- Conduct site inspections, including body shops, medical clinics, loss locations, etc.
- Conduct thorough investigations of complex potentially fraudulent claims to determine payment decisions, including scene investigations and surveillance as needed
- Validate the accuracy of information obtained through investigation and follow up on all possible leads
- Summarize documents and enter notes into the claim system, documenting the claim file with evaluations and decision‑making processes
- Utilize analytic tools or SIU field intelligence to identify complex claims for investigation and support evidence of fraud and damages
- Research and respond to complex customer communications, concerns, conflicts, or issues
- This role does not have supervisory duties.
As a requirement of employment, individuals who currently hold an active insurance license must terminate all existing appointments prior to onboarding and must not hold any outside appointments during employment. Applicants seeking an adjuster role who also hold a resident producer license must formally surrender that license when instructed by the licensing team.

- SIU Investigator Cons I: $60,000 – $87,400 per year
- SIU Investigator Cons II: $62,100 – $92,700 per year
- SIU Investigator Sr Cons I: $68,500 – $104,100 per year
Compensation is based on experience and qualifications. Total compensation may include additional components such as incentive pay (e.g., commission or bonus) if applicable.
