The OpportunityWe currently have an opportunity for an Underwriting Associate to join our Specialty Property team based in our Anaheim, CA office or remotely located in the west Coast of the United States. The Underwriting Associate provides advanced, complex technical services and support in partnership with assigned underwriter(s) and designated producers for moderately complex accounts. Some of the Underwriting Associate responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Assists underwriter in developing and directly servicing a book of business and within defined authority level, evaluates risks and makes recommendations for acceptance, rejection, modification, or referral in accordance with established underwriting standards, policies and programs.
- For new business policies, completes 85-90% of the front-end information gathering and analytics required to enable assigned underwriter(s) to make a determination on the risk.
- Ensures underwriting file is documented and returns for final file review and further documentation by underwriter via automated desktop systems and tools.
- Develops superior working relationships with producers and acts as first point of contact. Researches and resolves complex errors and questions regarding processes and procedures. Occasionally travels to key producers/accounts with underwriter(s).
- Assists underwriters in managing their portfolios through risk evaluation including assessment of risk control reports, financials, audits, loss experience, competitive environment and by taking action when peculiarities or deficiencies are noted.
- Takes initiative for learning and understanding insurance coverages and acquires additional insurance knowledge by enrolling in industry related courses and programs.
- Assists in the development of new processes, procedures and/or systems. Participates on committees and projects as required.
- Trains and acts as a resource and mentor for other Underwriting Associates and Assistants.
- Associate or bachelor's degree preferred.
- 3-5 years underwriting support or related insurance experience required.
Our salary ranges are determined by many factors including location, role, experience and skillset of the candidate. The following ranges displayed reflect the target base salary for new hires; however, your recruiter will provide more specific compensation details during the hiring process. The typical base salary range for this position is: $61,000 - $86,000, based on the factors aforementioned. For candidates located in San Francisco, CA;
Washington DC; our Massachusetts based offices and the New York City metro area, the base salary range is $77,000 - $90,000. In addition to base salary, full time Intact employees are also eligible for bonus potential and a full range of benefits to include but not limited to:
