Job Description
Mountain West Farm Bureau Insurance is currently hiring for a full‑time Commercial Lines Underwriter to join our team. The Underwriter assists with evaluating and assessing insurance applications to determine appropriate coverage and terms for policyholders. This role involves analyzing risk factors, conducting research, and applying underwriting guidelines to make informed decisions under the guidance of experienced underwriters to develop a strong foundation in the underwriting process.
This full‑time position is located at the home office in Laramie, WY, typically 40 hours per week from 8 am to 5 pm, Monday‑Friday. Expected wage is $3,458–$3,770 per month, depending on experience.
Responsibilities- Evaluate and assess insurance applications, determine coverage and terms, and manage policyholder interactions.
- Analyze risk factors and conduct research on potential risks.
- Apply underwriting guidelines and make underwriting decisions.
- Maintain strong knowledge of coverage and underwriting guidelines in a collaborative environment.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. - Preferred:
Property and casualty insurance knowledge. - Preferred:
Experience with company systems. - Preferred:
At least two years’ experience in insurance.
