SummaryWe are looking for a highly capable Senior Workers' Compensation Claims Adjuster to help us on a temporary assignment with an estimated end date of October 9, 2026 and work from anywhere in the United States. This role will adjudicate indemnity workers' compensation claims of higher technical complexity for our customers in the states of SC and VA.
Essential Responsibilities- Adjudicate highly complex indemnity workers' compensation claims under limited technical direction and broad limits and authority.
- Solve difficult problems that require an understanding of a broader set of issues.
- Report to senior management and underwriters on claims trends and developments.
- Investigate claims promptly and thoroughly, including interviewing all involved parties.
- Analyze claims forms, policies and endorsements, client instructions, and other records to determine whether the loss falls within policy coverage.
- Manage claims in litigation.
- Maintain a diary to ensure tasks are completed timely and cases move toward the best financial outcome.
- Set claim reserves appropriately.
- Coordinate assignment of expertise resources to assist in case resolution.
- Prepare reports for file documentation.
- Apply creative solutions that result in the best financial outcome.
- Negotiate settlements.
- Complete telephone calls and written correspondence to/from various parties.
- Show appreciation and passion for strong claim management.
- Advanced knowledge of adjudicating workers' compensation claims with:
- At least five years of experience adjudicating workers' compensation claims in SC and VA jurisdictions.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university required. Two or more insurance designations or four additional years of related experience adjudicating indemnity claims may substitute for a degree.
- SC license required at start of assignment.
- Good business acumen and understanding of how an insurance company operates.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to build lasting relationships.

- Strong customer focus and effective time‑management skills.

The base salary range provided below is for hires in those geographic areas only and will be commensurate with candidate experience. Pay ranges for candidates in other locations may differ based on the cost of labor in that location.
- Colorado outside of Denver metro, Delaware, Illinois (outside of Chicago metro area), Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts (outside of Boston metro area), Minnesota, Nevada, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Virginia Pay Ranges: $48.65 per hour – $57.59 per hour
- Boston metro area, California outside of Los Angeles & San Francisco metro area, Connecticut, Chicago metro area, Denver metro area, New Jersey (outside of New York City metro area), New York State (outside of New York City metro area), Washington,
D.
C. metro area, & Washington State Pay Ranges: $53.55 per hour – $63.70 per hour - New York City, Los Angeles and San Francisco metro areas Pay Ranges
: $58.40 per hour – $69.54 per hour
