Underwriter, Insurance Analyst, Risk Manager/Analyst
Zurich North America is currently hiring an Underwriting Analyst – E&S Financial Lines for our Scottsdale, AZ;
Chicago, IL; and Atlanta, GA offices. The position is based out of Scottsdale and will be a hybrid role requiring presence in the office three days a week. You will partner with your manager to set a flexible schedule that supports you and our E&S Financial Lines team members.
Responsibilities:
- Review, evaluate, and analyze risk exposures, controls, loss history, and financial condition; recommend or execute underwriting decisions around submission acceptance or declination within our established risk appetite.
- Anticipate underwriting exposure information needs and proactively seek out alternative, relevant data sources using underwriting tools to improve risk understanding.
- Analyze and recommend input in areas of policy rating, subjective pricing, policy construction, coverages and exclusions, mandatory forms, etc. as needed to accurately quote and/or renew policies (bonds).
- Develop and execute account servicing solutions independently and in collaboration with the Underwriter, managing end‑to‑end servicing processes for new business, renewals, and endorsements for complex business accounts.
- Drive broker/agent/distributor/customer interactions and on‑site calls related to account servicing matters with a planned, well‑prepared purpose. Build strong working relationships within the team and with broker counterparts.
- Develop new team members and provide support and coaching to peers, based on quality results, and provide coaching and problem‑solving for complex transactions or issues while educating peers on the context behind the solution.
- Support special projects as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree and 2 or more years of experience in the Insurance, Underwriting or Market Facing area
- Or Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice, including Associate Degree and 2 or more years of experience in the Insurance, Underwriting or Market Facing area
- Or High School Diploma or Equivalent and 4 or more years of experience in the Insurance, Underwriting or Market Facing area
- Knowledge of the insurance industry and the legal and regulatory environment.
- Experience with data collection and analysis.
- Experience with processing, rating and policy management systems used in the insurance industry.
- Problem‑solving experience.
- Experience servicing product portfolios for multiple lines of business for insurance.
- Knowledge of underwriting philosophy and techniques.
- Knowledge of national and local insurance filing regulations and guidelines.
- Knowledge of international insurance programs.
Your pay at Zurich is based on your role, location, skills, and experience. We follow local laws to ensure fair compensation. You may also be eligible for bonuses and merit increases. The proposed salary for this position is $54,500.00–$89,200.00, with short‑term incentive bonus eligibility set at 10%.
