You will investigate and maintain highly complex property/casualty claims. You will determine liability, secure information, review coverages, arrange appraisals, and settle claims. You will report to a senior manager, litigation. In this primarily home‑based role, you will spend 80% of your time (4+ days per week) working from home, proximate to one of our office locations (within approximately 35-50 miles).
On occasion you may be asked to travel to an office location for in‑person engagement activities such as team meetings, trainings, and culture events.

Position Compensation Range: $88,000.00 - $ (may vary based on level and geographic work location). Relocation support is offered for eligible candidates.
Responsibilities- Investigate the origin and cause of high‑exposure claims by contacting insureds, claimants, agents, attorneys, contractors, experts, special investigation unit, and other adjusters.
- Participate in High Damage Reviews (HDR) to address coverage issues and exposure. Handle claims on a good‑faith basis.
- Handle both 1st‑party and 3rd‑party claims under multiple policy types and numerous endorsements.
- Conduct on‑site inspections when needed, evaluate damages, and negotiate settlements with insureds, claimants, attorneys, and public adjusters.
- Respond to customer inquiries, make appropriate decisions, and close files as needed.
- Interpret and determine policies, leases, by‑laws, declarations, articles, and contract coverages; apply them to all parties for assigned losses.
- Make independent decisions while recognizing when assistance is needed.
- Proactively provide all parties with claim process updates and status as appropriate; answer questions or redirect to other areas.
- Serve as a mentor and subject‑matter expert for less experienced adjusters.
- May be required to complete other assignments, job duties, or participate in projects based on skills, achievements, or experience.
- Coverage experience preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to handle 1st and 3rd‑party, multi‑line claims across operating territories.
- Demonstrated experience providing customer‑driven solutions, support, or service.
- Demonstrated ability to efficiently and effectively manage complex claims.
- Extensive knowledge of policies and endorsements coverages.
- Successfully applied knowledge of each phase of the claim‑handling process.
- Obtain state‑specific property‑casualty claims licensing as required.
- Up to 10%.
- Catastrophe travel up to 75% as applicable.
- Work that primarily involves sitting/standing.
- All employees participate in New Employee Orientation during their first week. The orientation is held in person at Madison, WI headquarters or one of our core locations, and occasionally delivered virtually.
