As a Risk Engineering Consultant at The Hartford, your primary role will be to protect the future of and ensure profitability for The Hartford, its business partners and agents through timely delivery of industry leading safety and risk management solutions.

This role will have a remote work arrangement, with the expectation of coming into an office as business needs arise. The territory will primarily include New York, New York & New Jersey. This position can be hired at various levels depending on background and experience.

Location:

Remote with periodic office visits; territory includes NY/NJ.

• Prepare for and conduct presentations to serviced accounts
• Based on knowledge of the insured’s business activities and needs, make recommendations that help management correct and prevent potential financial losses
• Assist in training for new and experienced hires, including report and file reviews, coaching, etc., under guidance from the regional Risk Engineering Lead/Primary Mentor
• Participate in special technical projects (e.g., Biotech, Technology, Industry Expertise) and work toward becoming a Subject Matter Expert in one technical discipline
• Participate in the RMS process—meet with insureds, present findings, and collaborate with claims and underwriting
• Collaborate with the Risk Engineering Manager on special projects and in developing reports to support regional objectives

• High school diploma required; BA/BS preferred with coursework in Occupational Safety and Health Studies, Fire Sciences, Pure Sciences, Engineering, or related fields
• Minimum 5 years of industry experience in a safety-related role; property and casualty insurance experience highly desired
• Ability to achieve or maintain one professional safety certification/designation (e.g., CSP, CIH, CPCU, CFPS, ARM)
• Knowledge and skill to handle all Survey and Service work assignments for all lines of business
• Strong consultative skills and advanced service delivery; ability to use loss analysis reports and investigations to direct services and reduce losses
• Ability to complete detailed service plans and provide safety training (e.g., Ergonomics, Machine Safeguarding, Industrial Hygiene) and to use associated tools and products

The listed annualized base pay range is based on external market analysis; actual base pay may vary based on performance, proficiency, and demonstrated competencies. The Hartford offers additional rewards including bonuses and incentives. The base pay range for this role is:

$102,400 - $153,600
