Overview
You will investigate and maintain highly complex property/casualty claims. You will determine liability, secure information, review coverages, arrange appraisals, and settle claims. You will report to a senior manager in litigation.

Location & Work ArrangementPrimarily home‑based role: 80% working from home (4+ days per week) proximate to one of our office locations (within approximately 35-50 miles). Occasional in‑person engagement activities such as team meetings, trainings, and culture events. Locations:

Position Compensation Range: $88,000 - $145,000 per year.
Responsibilities- Investigate origin and cause of high exposure claims by contacting appropriate parties including insureds, claimants, agents, attorneys, contractors, experts, special investigation unit, other adjusters, public personnel, etc. Check for prior claims and recognize environmental exposures.
- Participate in High Damage Reviews (HDR) to address coverage issues and exposure. Handle claims on a good faith basis.
- Handle both first‑party and third‑party claims under multiple policy types and numerous endorsements.
- Conduct on‑site inspections when needed, evaluate damages and handle claim negotiations with insureds, claimants, attorneys, public adjusters.
- Respond to customer inquiries, make appropriate decisions, and close files as needed.
- Interpret and determine policies, leases, by‑laws, declarations, articles, and contract coverages and apply to all parties for assigned losses. Interpret claim history coverages.
- Make independent decisions but recognize when assistance is needed.
- Proactively provide all parties with claim process and status as appropriate; answer questions or redirect to other areas.
- Serve as a mentor and subject matter expert for less experienced adjusters.
- May be required to complete other assignments, job duties, or participate in projects based upon skills, achievements, or experience.
- Coverage experience preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to handle first‑ and third‑party, multi‑line claims across our operating territories.
- Demonstrated experience providing customer‑driven solutions, support or service.
- Demonstrated ability to efficiently and effectively handle complex claims.
- Extensive knowledge of policies and endorsements coverages.
- Successfully applied knowledge of each phase of the claim handling process.
- Obtain state‑specific property casualty claims licensing as required.
- Up to 10%.
- Catastrophe travel up to 75% as applicable.
- Work mainly involves sitting/standing.
- All employees participate in New Employee Orientation during their first week. Sessions may be held in person at Madison, WI Headquarters or other core locations, or delivered virtually.
- Offer contingent upon results of applicable background checks.
- Offer contingent upon signing a non‑disclosure agreement for proprietary information, trade secrets, and inventions.
