Duties & Responsibilities )
The Auto Club Group is seeking a Auto Claim Representative II who works under normal supervision with an intermediate‑level approval authority to handle moderately complex claims within Claim Handling Standards in the field or inside units. Responsibilities include
- Reviewing assigned claims, contacting insureds and other parties, setting expectations, and initiating documentation in the claim handling system.
- Conducting coverage analysis, reviewing policy coverages and provisions, and identifying all possible policyholder benefits.
- Creating additional sub‑claims where needed or referring complex claims to management or the appropriate claim handler.
- Investigating claim facts to determine payment eligibility, limits, exclusions, and recovery potential.
- Reviewing damages, evaluating state law and other factors, and determining the financial value of the loss.
- Approving payments and referring claims to other company units (e.g., Underwriting, Recovery, Claims Special Investigation) as necessary.
- Documenting and coding the claim file and completing all closure activities in the assigned claims management system.
- Utilizing strong negotiating skills.
Employees in the APD claim unit will handle moderately complex claims that involve settling Total Losses, inspecting vehicles, and preparing damage estimates. In a DRS Examiner role, manage Direct Repair Shops for compliance with the program. Additional duties may include determining damage cause, establishing liability, identifying subrogation potential, monitoring repairs, approving car rental expense, and handling simple APD Litigation cases.

- Complete the ACG Claim Representative Training Program or demonstrate equivalent knowledge or experience.
- In states where an Adjuster’s license is required, be eligible to acquire a State Adjuster’s license within 90 days of hire and maintain as required.
- Valid driver’s license if the role involves in‑person inspections or frequent meetings.
- One year of experience with negotiating claim settlements, securing and evaluating evidence, preparing manual and electronic estimates, subrogation claims (including identifying recovery opportunities), resolving coverage questions, taking statements, and establishing clear evaluation and resolution plans for claims.
- Essential Insurance Act (Michigan)
