Claims Specialist

You will manage the complete processing of building damages and be the central contact person for customers as well as internal and external partners. You will analyze complex cases, assess coverage and damage amount, commission experts if necessary, and coordinate service providers – with the goal of ensuring an economical and customer-oriented settlement.

Your tasks include:

• Processing damages in home and building insurance independently and conclusively – from the report to the payout
• Checking damage reports for coverage according to insurance conditions as well as cause, scope, and amount
• Evaluating typical property damages (e.g., water damage, storm, fire, or burglary) and documenting decisions in a comprehensible manner
• Communicating confidently with policyholders, craftsmen, experts, and lawyers
• Managing external service providers (e.g., experts or restoration companies) and keeping an eye on quality, costs, and timing
• Ensuring a fast, fair, and economical damage settlement – with a focus on customer satisfaction

What you bring:

Must-have:

• Completed training in the insurance sector (e.g., insurance and finance merchant) or a degree (insurance, business administration, law)
• Several years of professional experience in damage processing, ideally in residential building and home insurance
• Good knowledge of insurance contract law (VVG) as well as the corresponding conditions (VGB, VHB)
• Experience in the settlement of property damages (e.g., water damage, storm, fire, or burglary)
• Experience in working with experts and restoration service providers
• Technical basic understanding of buildings, construction processes, and typical damage scenarios
