Senior Commercial Underwriter

We are looking for a Senior Commercial Underwriter to join our team. This role reports to the VP of Transportation and involves performing risk selection and pricing on endorsements, renewals, and new business within the guidelines and authority established between MGU and various contracted carriers.

• Assess and price endorsements, renewals, and new business according to the underwriting manual and program guidelines.
• Underwrite lines of business including general liability, auto liability (incl. HNO), physical damage, umbrella/excess, property, crime, motor truck cargo, contingent auto, and cargo.
• Provide customer service by responding promptly and courteously to all requests for information.
• Ensure timely and accurate preparation and issuance of policies, as identified by the manager.
• Order and review inspection reports to assess risk quality and confirm exposure base accuracy.
• Effectively communicate company standards, mission, underwriting guidelines, and requirements to brokers.
• Actively manage relationships with assigned brokers and agents.
• Delegate tasks to an underwriting assistant as needed.

• Minimum 7 years’ experience as a Transportation Underwriter in a multi‑state and multi‑line commercial insurance environment.
• Prior experience working remotely from a home office; 100% remote required.
• Strong technical P&C underwriting knowledge and skills, specifically focused on Commercial Auto.
• Advanced knowledge of ISO commercial class codes and CLM rules, forms, rating and regulatory requirements.
• Very strong understanding of underwriting and pricing principles and the ability to make decisions based on program criteria and strategy.

Pay Range: $70,000 – $120,000 annually.
