Field Claims Representative – Asheville, NC

Auto-Owners Insurance is seeking a motivated and experienced field claims professional to join our team.

• Investigate and assemble facts to determine policy coverage and evaluate loss amount.
• Analyze legal liability and resolve multi-line property and casualty claims within an assigned territory with an emphasis on property claims.
• Study insurance policies, endorsements and forms to become familiar with coverage.
• Work toward claim resolution, including attending arbitrations, mediations, depositions, or trials as necessary.
• Ensure timely and accurate claim payments.
• Conduct investigations by phone, mail and on-site investigations.

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in handling property and casualty claims.
• Minimum 3 years of multi-line property and casualty claims handling, with emphasis on property claims.
• Field claims handling experience preferred, but not required.
• Knowledge of Xactimate software preferred, but not required.
• Above average communication skills (written and verbal).
• Ability to resolve complex issues and organize and interpret data.
• Ability to handle multiple assignments and work effectively with diverse individuals.
• Strong math skills including geometry, finance, and accurate calculation.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record meeting company underwriting guidelines.
