Position: Field Claims Specialist II, Property Content (Dallas, TX - WFH)

This is a work-from-home position with day travel to policy locations (on average 3–4 days a week) via company vehicle (personal use, gas and maintenance included). Claims inspections will include onsite and virtual inspection. Candidate location:

Qualifications
  • 3–5 years of insurance field/property claims handling or adjusting experience
  • Solid experience with Xactimate
  • Content inventory, pricing and repair/mitigation experience
  • Construction background/experience – residential, remodeling, water mitigation, etc.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Job Description Summary

As a Property Contents Field Claims Specialist, you will assist with the investigation and evaluation of moderate to severe losses focusing on the contents portion of the loss. You will meet with customers or their representative to complete an inventory of damaged contents and conduct research to establish pricing for damaged contents. During the claim, you will work with vendors on cleaning, restoring and replacing damaged contents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Handle all assigned claims promptly and effectively, with little to no direction and oversight.
  • Make decisions within delegated authority as outlined in company policies and procedures.
  • Determine proper policy coverages and apply appropriate claims practices to resolve cases in alignment with company guidelines.
  • Open, close and adjust reserves according to company practices to ensure reserve adequacy.
  • Adhere to file conferencing notification and authority procedures.
  • Maintain current knowledge of insurance, applicable products/services, court decisions, local industry repair procedures and local market pricing.
  • Submit severe incident reports, reinsurance reports and other information to claims management as needed.
  • Partner with Special Investigation Unit and Subrogation to identify fraud and subrogation opportunities.
  • Assist or prepare files for lawsuit, trial or subrogation.
  • Deliver an outstanding customer service experience to all internal, external, current and prospective Nationwide customers.
  • Adhere to high standards of professional conduct while providing delivery of outstanding claim’s service.
  • Mentor less experienced claims associates and help with training/presentations as assigned by claims management.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Reporting Relationships

Reports to Claims Manager. Individual contributor role.

Typical Education, License and Experience
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience.
  • State licensing where required.
  • Successful completion of required/applicable claims certification training/classes.
  • Three to five years related property claims experience.
  • Experience in a customer service environment, including flexible work schedules and extended work hours preferred.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills
  • General knowledge of insurance theory and practices, contracts and their application.
  • Property estimating and automated claims systems.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the investigation, discussion and settlement activities used to resolve extensive property damage claims.
